22nd September 2014
Assalamualaikum w.b.t.
Today is Monday and we had a replacement class (lecture)
from 2.00 p.m to 5.00 p.m. But as usual, the class was enjoyable.
First and foremost, Dr Wan changed our project (Adopt
Microbe) to Thank a Microbe. Okayyy, I thought it just changed the name to Thank
a Microbe BUT there’re two different tasks actually. The Thank a Microbe is for
grouping, and Adopt Microbe for individually. Hmmmm GOOD!
Today we also met a new course mate Syarah Abbas (akak
actually). She’s 22 years old and took Diploma in Microbiology in UiTM. Hmmm
very the experienced person in Microbe yaa (compare to us).
Today we learnt about History of Microbe ( Dr Wan called
this subtopic as Tawareh) HIHI . Today I know many fact as in Microbiology field :
1.
Antonie van Leewenhoek was the first
Microbiologist and he found out animalcules
( bacteria that mobile).
2.
Robert hooke was the English father of
Microscopy and he is the one who has coined the word ‘cell’. He was smarter
because he invented the microscope and publish a book titled Micrographia
3.
Pasteurization was not kill all microbes but
only kill pathogens
4.
UHT is Under High Temperature
Chapter 2 :
Microscopy
There’s two
categories of microscopes :
- Light microscope
- Electron microscope
There’s five types
of microscopes :
- Bright field
- Phase contrast
- Dark field
- Electron microscope
- Fluorescence
Types of light
microscopes :
- Bright field
- Dark field
- Confocal
- Phase contrast
- Fluorescence
Types of electron
microscope :
- Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM)
- Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM)
- Electron Cryotomography
Ermmm actually, I don’t really understand about this topic,
because there many names in one type and I don’t know how to classify it, I
tried to do mindmap but I don’t know to put those and that microscope to which
one type. (argghhh hard to tell)
I think I have to see Dr Wan personally hihi, till we meet
again! Bye! XOXO
