Today’s lecture we just continue our previous lecture on
topic Microscopy. We learnt how to prepare smear and it involves :
1.
Preparing smears
2.
Fixation
3.
Staining
And the function of staining is to preserve internal and
external structures there are two types
of fixing that are heat fixing and chemical fixing.
And staining, there are
three types of staining that are simple staining, differential staining and
special staining.
For differential staining there are two types :
1.
Gram-staining
2.
Acid-fast straining
For special straining there are three types :
1.
Negative straining
2.
Endospore straining
3.
Flagella straining
Dr Wan told us that bacteria that can produce endospore only
gram-positive bacteria. She also said that Mycobacterium
tuberculosis caused TB (batuk kering)
Mycobacterium tuberculosis
Another new bacteria that we have learnt today is Helicobacter pylori that caused gastric
and ulsers and it is gram-negative bacteria.
Helicobacter pylori
Another half an hour (maybe) after finish this topic, Dr Wan
wanted us to do a mind map on Chapter 3!
In a our own group we did a mind map on chapter Prokaryotes
(just half of it) : External structure only. And we finished our lecture on
12p.m. my course mate and I then walking to the food court next to CIMB bank
for lunch.
Till we meet again, Bye! XOXO
